Thank you to everyone who supported me during this campaign. When I started on this path last April I never expected to have so many people from different walks of life get behind my bid to unseat Gene Taylor. The people I met and the stories I heard from numerous voters painted a picture of a district desperately in need of a representative who puts the US Constitution above himself, the federal government and his party. While we achieved our goal of unseating Gene Taylor, unfortunately I was not the victor in this race. There are numerous reasons for this, but I’ll only go through a few of them.

Tonight, my thoughts and prayers as well as those of my campaign staff are with the Carson family upon news of the death of Mrs. Alyne Carson.

Her son Josh and I have known each other since we were in Cub Scouts together (and many things since that time) and I am deeply saddened at the news of her passing. I’ve reached out to them and offered my condolences and any help I can offer them in this difficult time.

I’m fighting back tears as I write this because Alyne was a wonderful woman and I’ll miss her dearly. I remember many times over the years how she would treat everyone like they were part of her own family, and her tender heart and giving spirit is made most apparent in her children today. I truly mean it when I say that the world will be a lonelier place without her in it.

TV ad money needed: Positive ads for a change

Email message I just sent out to our supporters:

I’m sure that you’re tired of seeing the negative ad war between Steven Palazzo and Gene Taylor. Wouldn’t it be refreshing to see some 100% positive campaign ads from someone?

Well, that’s why I’m sending you this message right now. We need $500-$1000 to run a few ads between now and Election Day. You don’t have to contribute the whole amount yourself, but even $50 will go a long way (and if made in cash the donation can be anonymous up to that amount, if that’s a concern for you). I hate asking for money because I know how tight your budget probably is, but we need a change in our leadership in Congress and in the way campaigns are run as well.

If you want to contribute to the campaign, we have several ways to do so. You can go to our website’s Donate page and use the Google Checkout link to make a donation. You can also mail us a check, made payable to Tim Hampton For Congress Committee, 2200 Adeline Street, Hattiesburg, MS 39401. Lastly, just call me at 601-466-3179 or my campaign manager Joan at 601-606-4773 and we can arrange to pick up your donation if that would be most convenient for you.

It’s time to let freedom ring again in South Mississippi and I welcome any support you can give to make that a reality.

Sincerely,
Tim Hampton
Libertarian candidate for US Congress (MS-04)

WDAM Poll Results: Only two points behind 21-yr incumbent Gene Taylor!

Out of a total of 941 votes:
Tim Hampton - 235 votes = 25%
Steven Palazzo - 437 votes = 46%
Gene Taylor - 257 votes = 27%
Anna Revies - 12 votes = <1%

If this isn’t proof that I’m a legitimate candidate and that I’m not just a spoiler, I don’t know what is. Get the word out about this poll result! Even though it’s not a scientific poll, it is highly significant.
